When I started Root & Bloom Co., I priced everything with generosity at the center — because I truly just wanted to share healing things with others! I didn’t charge for my time or factor in the real cost of making things by hand. I just wanted to create high quality, honest products. But as this little business has grown into something so much more, I’ve realized how important it is to honor the time, care, and heart that go into each and every thing I make.
I grow herbs like calendula myself, dry them gently, and infuse oils for months. I render and purify tallow by hand. I research and refine every recipe, label each jar, pack every order — and I do it all with the same love and attention I’d give to my own family.
Many of these products last for many months — some up to a year. A single lip balm can stretch from Christmas to summer. So while prices may be a bit higher now, the value is in the longevity, the ingredients, and the craftsmanship behind every formula.

What I didn’t fully account for before:
• The time it takes to grow, dry, render, and prepare my own ingredients
• The careful process of formulating each recipe with safety + effectiveness in mind
• The quiet behind-the-scenes labor: cleaning, labeling, gardening, sourcing
• The rising cost of high-quality, local, and sustainable ingredients
• And the deeper truth: this is no longer just a creative outlet — it’s work that matters, and I want to keep doing it well, without burning out.
These changes reflect what it truly takes to continue this business. To keep showing up. To keep offering you the very best quality products I can. I’m proud of these products. I believe in them and know they work. I hope you see the value in them as well.
